JIS vs JIC fitting standards

JIS and JIC fittings has the same flared tube connectors, but difference as follows:


Standards difference:

JIS fittings standard is as per Japanese industry standard such as JIS B8363.

JIC fittings standard is as per Joint industry council by SAE J514 and MIL-DTL-18866 standards.


Sealing difference:

JIS adapter fittings has 30 degree flare tube connector, but thread has BSPP and Metric (also called Komatsu style fittings). And also have 60 degree cone fittings with BSPP thread. Fitting sealing by 30 deg flared or 60 deg cone contacting metel to metal or o-ring face.

JIC adapter fittings is 37 degree flare tube connectors, with UNF thread. Fitting sealing by 37 deg cone to seat contacting.

Usage difference:

JIS hydraulic fttings mainly used in Japanese and Korean heavy equipment such as Komatsu, Kobelco, Hitachi, Kubota etc, often used as hose adaptors.

JIC hydraulic fittings mainly used in North America market, also popular in the worldwides. In manufacturer of heavy equipments such as Caterpillar, John deere, CNH, Bobcat, Case etc, often used as tube connector fittings.


JIS and JIC fittings is not interchangeable to each other. There are two different tubing and hoses connection system.
