How to machine / measure BSP fittings

BSP fittings is produce by CNC machine, the material of BSP pipe fittings is carbon steel and 316 or 304 stainless steel. UK industrial machines and equipment are designed and manufactured with BSP types of fittings and adaptors, with different sealing methods for hydraulic systems.

There are two types of BSP threads commonly used on hydraulic fitting

BSPP (BSP, Parallel)

BSPT (BSP, Tapered)

BSPP thread two sealing methods as follows:

Male BSPP 60 deg cone tube connector

Female BSPP swivel 60 deg seat connector

BSPP thread flat face port with ED seal, bonded seal, o-ring + retaining ring and cutting edge face

CNC produce BSP end in one time with eight tool, steps as follow:

1. Drilling hole for fluid power passage.

2. CNC turning 60 cone for metal or metal+o ring double sealing

3. CNC turning BSPP thread for tightening and clamping the contact.

4. Undercut the chamfer

Measure BSP thread fittings steps is as follow:

1. Determine BSPP thread or BSPT thread, by visual inspection for parallel or tapered thread.

2. Determine BSP thread pitch, by Go and NO-GO gauge for checking thread pitches fit.

3. Determine the size of BSP thread, by measuring the actual outside diameter of pipe thread with caliper.

4. Designate BSP thread size by table BS 5200 standard.
